Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a believed to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and charges for using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.

A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. Several persons went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
