The President Calls Relatives of Injured Military Members to the Presidential Residence

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to halt refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
