The star has revealed that she believes it's no longer fitting to comment publicly against the Trump administration, fearing it could intensify unhelpful debate and deepen rifts throughout the United States.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Says the Actress

Speaking with media, Lawrence commented, “When Trump was first in office, I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But experience has shown, through repeated campaigns, celebrities fail to influence at all on voter decisions.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to heighten conflict dividing the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about supporting conservative and liberal candidates in past elections. Growing up with a right-leaning family in her home state, she supported John McCain in the 2008 election then moving to the Democrats and revealing she realized during Obama’s administration that backing conservatives was voting against her own rights as a female citizen.

Earlier Remarks

Several years ago, she commented that Trump winning the presidency might signal “a disaster” and publicly supported Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “since I feel she’s a strong contender and I know that she will make every effort to safeguard reproductive rights.”

Industry Position

Lawrence was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact public figures have over the public choices was highlighted by his election win.

“The second term feels different,” said the actress about his leadership. “Since he said what he was going to do. We understood his record for the previous administration. He was very clear. And that’s the option selected.”

Lawrence is currently promoting her new film, the filmmaker’s movie in which she plays a young mom who struggles with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. During a press conference for the film in Venice, Lawrence addressed the situation in the Middle East: “I’m terrified. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a genocide and it’s horrible.”

She continued by expressing that she was saddened by “the lack of civility in the discussions of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be accepted to the kids today. It’s going to be normal to them that leaders are untruthful.”

The actor sought to redirect anger about the situation to policymakers rather than celebrities. “Stay focused on those accountable,” she remarked, in what many took to be a reference to the declaration endorsed by more than 4,000 arts community members to avoid certain cultural organizations.

Relatable Experiences

Lawrence, who received an Academy Award at a young age for her performance in the acclaimed film, is attracting awards attention for her work in her latest project. Although the director has rejected the narrative being understood as one of postpartum depression and psychosis, the actress revealed that she connected with aspects of her character’s journey after the delivery of her new baby, not long after filming concluded.

“It was fear for my son,” she explained, “just picturing every worst-case scenario, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was already in therapy, but I got on a drug called that medicine and I used it for two weeks and it made a difference.”

Film Challenges

The actor also spoke about the freeing requirement of completing nude scenes in the movie while she was some months pregnant and unable to exercise.

“It feels nice,” she remarked, about having to cast off vanity. “I mean, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
