Recent details have emerged about the untimely passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

A source indicates quoting a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and denied bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to accounts of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
