Palestinian-American Teenager Freed After Nine Months in Israeli Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American youth who spent nine months in Israel's custody without charge gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

They said he is pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare he requires after being subjected to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances over several months."

American authorities stated they would maintain to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and the White House, requesting additional efforts to release him.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business from Florida, previously said his son only confessed regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely about his son's condition through judicial records.

He stayed without charge in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences including killings.
