No less than 64 people died in a law enforcement action targeting the Red Command gang in the Brazilian city's north zone - the largest and deadliest raid in the area's past.

Four law enforcement personnel lost their lives during the security mission in the neighborhoods of AlemĂŁo and Penha, local authorities reported. In excess of 80 individuals were taken into custody.
